MEET MALAYSIA’S PROGRAM DIRECTOR AND INSTRUCTOR
Hi there! My name is Tan Lee Yin. I started taking ballet lessons when I was 7 years old, and dance has been a meaningful part of my life ever since. I have been teaching ballet for more than 15 years, and through teaching, I discovered my passion for helping children learn, grow and express themselves through movement.
After graduating with a Bachelor in Business Administration, majoring in Marketing and Management, I worked as a kindergarten teacher for 8 years. During this time, I furthered my studies in Early Childhood Education to deepen my understanding of children’s development and learning.
I later moved into curriculum development, working with kindergartens and preschools to develop learning programmes and train teachers. I also conduct sensory play sessions and children’s workshops, where I see firsthand how much children can learn through play and exploration. I believe that play is a child’s first job in learning.
I love how the Little Feet Movement programme supports children’s development and builds important foundations that can benefit them in their later stages of learning. This inspired me to join the Little Feet Instructor Training Programme under Regina Lum-Witkoske, where I can bring together my experience in dance, movement and early childhood education to create meaningful and joyful learning experiences for young children.
Regina and Lee Yin’s Story
Some friendships are meant to last a lifetime — and ours has certainly danced its way through one!
Lee Yin and I first met as young girls in ballet class. Little did we know that our friendship would take us on so many adventures together. From attending college in Malaysia and taking ice skating lessons to moving all the way to Michigan to attend Northwood University, we did almost everything together. We were roommates, classmates, and practically joined at the hip!
Eventually, our paths took us in different directions, with Lee Yin returning to Malaysia while I stayed in the United States. Although we were oceans apart, we stayed connected through the years. We each explored different career paths, but our shared passion for working with children and helping them thrive has always been a common thread in our lives. With Little Feet, we get to bring that passion together with our love for music and movement to support little ones and their families.
So, when Lee Yin approached me with the idea of bringing Little Feet to Malaysia, it felt like a natural next chapter in our story. I couldn't imagine a better opportunity — working alongside my best friend while bringing a program I love to my home country.
And just like that, Little Feet Malaysia was born!
We're so excited to begin this new adventure together and share the joy of music, movement, and meaningful connections with families in Malaysia. We can't wait for you to be part of the Little Feet family!
Love,
Regina
